The Journey UP KLCC

There is this two friends working on the 80th floor of the Petronas Twin Tower or better known as KLCC.One morning, as always they arrived early, earlier than any other people working in KLCC as they are the hardest workers. They headed towards the lift lobby to take the lift to get to their office. However, they found that all the lifts were not functioning(Everybody go Awww...).

Then, one of them suggested, "Why not we take the stairs today?. I'm sure we can make it. We are still young, healthy and fit".The other friend was up to it and say "Why not? Lets see who reaches the 80th floor first! Loser weepers and have to buy lunch today."They both dashed for the staircase door and started climbing floor after floor after floor.1, 2, 3, 4, 5 floors. Still full of energy and enthusiastic about the fun they are havingracing each other.

They continued climbing, never looking back down or stopping for a rest. Soon they reachedthe 10th floor. They continued sharing stories and jokes while climbing.15th Floor soon passed by. By now they were a little thirsty and stopped for a drink fromthe water bottle they always brought along.

They soon got to the 20th Floor. "Whew, 20 down 60 to go" said one guy. "I'm so excitedto share this with our friends. "I wonder if anyone has ever done this. We are so COOL".Had another big gulp of water and off they went.Continues the climb and by the time they arrived at the 25th floor they were feeling alittle numb and sore. "This is a lot tougher than I thought" one of them blurted. Just a fewfloors back, they were still so EXCITED.So, they decided to leave there briefcase and handbag on the 25th floor to lessen theirweights.

They continued climbing as they really wanted to achieve the success ofclimbing up KLCC. It feels like conquering the world climbing staircases.Slowly but steadily they climbed. There were less stories and jokes shared now as most ofthem have been told. Soon they arrive at the 30th floor mark. (Wow! What an achievement)One of them soon have a different thought about the whole idea. "I think you shouldcarry on yourself, I'm out of this. My feet are hurting badly". The other, reluctant to give upyet persuades his buddy the best he could. "Owh, c'mon. Don't you want to achieve thistogether. It's only a few floors left. OK, let's take a breather and rest our feet a bit. We canstrategize our next half of the climb".The friend, not wanting to dissapoint his buddy agreed to it. Anyway, he also wanted to seewhat it feels like finishing the climb. So they started the climb again with a new strategy.

Before that, each took another gulp of water from the almost empty bottle they were carrying. However, it did not last too long. By the time they reached the 30th floor, the blame gamestarted. "I told you this was a crazy idea. We should have just waited for the lifts to berepaired" said one. "Hey, you were the one who got so excited about this. Now look whatyou got us into" said the other.By the time they arrived at the 40th floor, they were close to blows and were screamingat each other (Everyone go Aww..).

They were so angry with each other that they were no longerwalking side by side. One was leading the other.Strangely though, they still continued to climb. Even though they were so angry with eachother.

Ironic? I think they had the same thing in mind. To get to the 80th floor so that theyhad something to share with their friends. So it went on and on and on. However, by the time they hit 45th floor, no words wereexchanged anymore. They soon got tired fighting over nothing as they still needed toget to the 80th floor together.50 soon passed by. Then came 55th floor By now, even more tired then ever, theywere really thinking about stopping and just take the lift, enjoy the rest of the ride up.But NOOO!!! They continued climbing up the never ending staircase. Pain staking flight afterpain staking flight. Wondering when it would finally end.60th floor came and went. Bodies battered and pushed to the limits, they somehow gotthemselves to the 70th floor. "10 more to go. We are almost there". "Imagine the looks onthe peoples faces when we tell them about this" said the other. Finally they were talkingto each other again. They began sharing about what went through their minds and how they felt during this wholeexperience. About what made them decide to continue despite the challenges faced. Andwhether there was any regret doing this. They were so busy talking and climbing thatthey forgot everything, the pain, the tiredness and the quarrel. They were at floor number75. One by one, they started counting down.5, 4, 3, 2 ... And finally the last one. (Everybody go Whoopee!!).A few steps left. They could already see themselves arriving at the office door. Peoplegathering all around them, clapping and cheering because of their feat. (I would cheer as loudtoo if someone accomplish such a feat. Wouldn't you?).The last few long steps. 3 more, 2 more, 1 more. They were there. 80th floor(Everybody go Yay!!! and clap hard for them). But there was nobody around to clap or cheer. In fact, there were not many people around except for the cleaners and maintenancepeople working the night shifts. So, they strode towards their office meekly. At last, they were standing at the office door. Still locked and empty. They shuffled for awhile as if searching for something. (Yes friends, can you help me out here? I think you guessed it)"Do you have your keys?" they said in unison. Then both of them said in unison again "I left mine in my bag back down on the 25th floor".You might as well laugh now as you might not be laughing anymore as you read further. My dear friends,What I am sharing is actually the journey of our life. The floors represent our age. Waterrepresents hope and encouragement. The two friends represents partners in life (husbandand wife) And last but not least, the briefcase and handbag represents our dreams.Lets take a quick look back at the learnings and you can read this as many times you likeand also share it with all your friends.5th floor: When we were young, we were full of energy. Non-fearing, non-doubter.Everything in this world seems possible. We were still very innocent.10th floor: We start to have friends to share our joy and laughter.15th floor: School exams bowl us over for most of us. But we were always encouraged(water bottle) by our family and friends. And we always had hope that someday we willachieve big things.20th floor: School days are finally over. We step into a new area in life. as we are goingout into the real world for the first time in our life. This time the encouragement is far greater. All the big dreams that we have, we are going out to achieve it.25th floor: After graduation, we finally land a job. Working tirelessly, day in day out,we soon forgot our dreams (the bags). All the daydreaming when we were 5, 10, 15.All the big things we wanted to achieve. Drowned by our never-ending workload.30th floor: We soon lose contact with most of our friends as all are too busy with theirwork as well. And this is also when we get married and have to restrategize. We backoff a bit in terms of energy to spend time with our family.40th floor: In between, we have arguments with our spouse. Kids are born. More challengesto handle in life. And more still to come.45th floor: All the constant nagging begins to stop. Both husband and wife have a mutualunderstanding (or rather a deep understanding of each others nagging methods. LOL).55th floor: Time for retirement. Enjoy life (the lift). But for many, they still need tocontinue working or they won't have enough money to survive the days (How many of youknow people like that?)60th-70th floor: We have worked all our lives. Definitely we have many experiences to sharewith people. Both husband and wife looks at their children's all grown up and leading a lifeof their own, creating their own future.75th floor: Our time is almost up. We do not want to leave with an unhappy ending. Thatis when we look back into our lives and think about all the great things we have done inour life. We anticipate many people coming to see us when we soon have to go.80th floor: But in turned out that not many people came to see us away. We think for amoment and soon realized that we left all of our big dreams when we were 25. All thedreams of helping many people with what we have to offer. We did not live a wonderful life.In the end, it was all too late.We are there standing at the door but have to way to get in. And were too tired to goback down and get the bags.My friends, don't forget to chase your dreams. You create your life."Live Life With Passion"
